The Poet Heckler is the poetry and rap persona of Ollie Rankin, multi-disciplinary artist, activist and futurist. His abrasive, yet witty rhymes are highly critical of the political and economic status quo, tackling issues including social and environmental justice as part of a lifelong mission to steer society in a more inclusive, equitable and sustainable direction. Originally from New Zealand, Rankin has worked around the world for over twenty years in the film and creative technology industries, where he is recognized as a pioneer in visual effects and virtual reality. He’s an award-winning short film director, photographer and interactive artist, an occasional musical comedian and a frequent public speaker. Rankin recently launched United Humans Foundation with the ambitious goal of reimagining civilization from the ground up, based on the principles of love, fairness and science.
